Ron Jackson, “Standards and Other Songs”
Roni Music Label RM6777
I wanted to record an album of my favorite jazz standards, as well as other tunes that I feel in love with. Tunes that stand the test of time. These songs are some of my favorite to listen to. Songs I’ve heard over and over, especially new songs that I discover when I’m driving listening to random stations on the radio. The types of songs when you hear them, make you daydream and evoke feelings like happiness, love, and sadness. I wanted to record an album that was real for me and true to the listener. A recording that can bring out those emotions as a listener.

from 15 reviewsRon's sheet music has been really helpful in picking up new Jazz concepts, especially playing lines over chords. His sheet music comes with standard notation, tabs, chord symbols, and audio files. They are helpful if you're just starting out in Jazz, or if you already have experience. You can purchase them as stand alone tutorials, or you can even get lessons with Ron! Here's an awesome arrangement of Happy Birthday.
Ron is extremely generous with sharing his vast musical knowledge. His patience and down to earth approach has been very inspiring for me in many ways, some of that is far beyond music. He's also very humble, which is in a huge contrast with what he actually brings to the table.
I am so thankful to have Mr. Jackson as a guitar teacher. His lessons are very thorough. I can tell he genuinely cares about me his student. He teaches with humor as well to me feel at ease. I am looking forward to our next lesson. Thank you Mr. Jackson!
Clean layout and large print. Very good quality. Thank you sir.

Having known Ron for years, it's been incredible to witness his musical journey. He's not only a dear friend but also a phenomenal jazz musician.
Whether you're a long-time jazz aficionado or new to the genre, experiencing Ron's music is a must.
Ron is an outstanding teacher, providing his students with lesson, study materials, and personal insight which gives the student the ability to expand their talent and fretboard knowledge. Ron has helped me become a much better musician on and off the stage, thanks always!
As a teacher, a musician and human being, Ron Jackson has been truly inspirational in my growth as a guitarist and has contributed greatly to my musical knowledge. Over the years, he's guided me through all the aspects of being a musician. I consider him a great teacher and a friend.
Working with Ron Jackson has been really helpful for me to improve at the guitar and overall it’s been a great time. He hears everything when you play and has tons of tricks and different ways of thinking to get you working on weak spots or just different ways of thinking about the music. Players of all levels can learn something from him so I highly recommend getting a lesson yourself its really fun ✌️
Ron Jackson is a super guitar teacher. I have been playing guitar for many years; and have had a few teachers. What makes Ron stand out is his investment in my growth as a guitar player and overall musicianship. Attention to detail, superb technique and unselfish sharing of knowledge has helped me to improve over the years. I am now super confident playing with jazz bands of different levels or just jamming with friends. My advice to other guitar players is to check him out. He is the best!!!
I am a 7-string jazz guitarist, and after our lessons, I have learned so much! Ron is clear and molds the lessons based on one's knowledge and proficiency on the guitar. 10/10
Excellent teacher & guitarist!!! Super talented!!

I heard this arrangement first on Ron's You-Tube channel and then purchased it from the website as I love to play well-known pieces. As a fairly advanced player myself the arrangement is easy to play and I can concentrate therefore on articulating it to make it sound beautiful. I am going to end up buying all of his arrangements for 6-string guitar and adding them to my repertoire. My only complaint is that Ron does not seem to have any more advanced arrangements available, for example his version of Happy Birthday he played on a video on his You-Tube channel for his birthday this year (2024), is really nice and sounds pretty challenging. That said the more straightforward arrangements I have seen of Ron's are most charming and do actually sound really good and I myself need to practice more on performance anyway, advanced technique is not the most important thing, the music is! So I'd like to thank Ron for his insight which is helping me develop as a musician. Good stuff.

Great lesson!
Ron gavé me some fantastic nuggets of information to advance my playing. The video recording of the lesson was a very useful. I look forward to having more lessons with Ron.

Great tune to learn 7 string jazz chords!!! Also like how there’s visual on where the notes need to be.

I’ve learned this tune on 6 string guitar and recently bought a 7 string guitar. This is a great arrangement for musicians that want to learn 7 string jazz guitar!
