Ron plays beautifully on standards but what sets this apart was that half of the cuts are songs he wrote. Good melodies and chord changes, familiar perhaps, but crafted. Roundabout , an original, has a great trombone by Clark Gayton. The old one hit wonder “‘Brandy” is given the organ trio approach and swings right along. And 7 string style for something not heard as much as some years ago. Great recording.
