So happy to finally receive my GRAMMY Participation Certificate for my composition “When I Found Malcolm X” on Kevin Powell’s GRAMMY Nominated Best Spoken Word album, “Grocery Shopping With My Mother”!
In fall 2022, I began working on an unnamed project with Kevin. The project would include my original compositions from my acoustic album (“Akustik Inventyours”). These conversations morphed into the spoken word album, for Grocery Shopping With My Mother, which was released in the fall of 2023 - almost a year later(!).
Although we did not take home the award, it is an honor to be part of this project from conception to release, nomination, and then attending the GRAMMY Awards® in Los Angeles. It has been an incredible experience that I will remember forever.
